Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Logistics Supervisor to oversee daily shipping, receiving, and transportation operations. The Logistics Supervisor will coordinate warehouse activities, manage logistics staff, and ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods. The ideal candidate has strong leadership skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a deep understanding of logistics and supply chain processes.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Daily Operations Management
    Supervise inbound and outbound shipping, inventory movement, and delivery schedules
    Ensure shipments are prepared accurately, packaged correctly, and dispatched on time
    Coordinate with carriers, freight companies, and internal departments for seamless logistics execution

  • Team Supervision
    Lead and supervise a team of warehouse associates, drivers, and logistics coordinators
    Provide training, assign tasks, and ensure staff compliance with company policies and safety regulations
    Monitor performance and provide feedback or corrective action when necessary

  • Inventory & Warehouse Coordination
    Oversee inventory levels and collaborate with the inventory team to ensure accurate stock records
    Assist with warehouse layout optimization and ensure proper storage, labeling, and organization of goods

  • Compliance & Safety
    Ensure adherence to safety procedures, transportation regulations, and company standards
    Maintain accurate shipping and receiving documentation, including bills of lading and manifests

  • Process Improvement & Reporting
    Analyze shipping data, delivery performance, and transportation costs to identify areas for improvement
    Prepare regular reports on logistics performance, issues, and KPIs for management review
    Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce logistics costs


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field (preferred)
  • 3–5+ years of experience in logistics, warehousing, or transportation, including supervisory experience
  • Strong understanding of logistics procedures, freight coordination, and warehouse operations
  • Proficiency with logistics software and systems (e.g., WMS, TMS, ERP platforms)

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Solid problem-solving skills and a focus on operational efficiency
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation compliance
  • Experience with scheduling, route planning, or fleet coordination is a plus

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred)
  • Relevant certifications such as Certified Logistics Associate (CLA) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) are a plus

Experience:

  • 3–5+ years of experience in logistics, supply chain, transportation, or warehouse operations
  • 1–2 years of supervisory or team leadership experience in a logistics or distribution environment
  • Proven experience in coordinating shipments, managing logistics workflows, and working with carriers or freight providers

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in logistics and warehouse management systems (WMS), transportation management systems (TMS), and/or ERP platforms (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite)
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel (for tracking shipments, schedules, and KPIs)
  • Knowledge of inventory control principles, route planning, and freight documentation (e.g., BOLs, shipping labels)

Operational & Compliance Knowledge:

  • Understanding of logistics processes, including shipping, receiving, inventory handling, and transportation regulations
  • Familiarity with DOT, OSHA, and other industry safety standards and compliance requirements
  • Ability to maintain and manage accurate shipping/receiving records and audit documentation

Leadership & Soft Skills:

  • Strong team leadership, mentoring, and delegation abilities
  • Excellent communication skills for coordinating with warehouse staff, vendors, and internal departments
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills, especially under time constraints
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize responsibilities, and adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail-oriented and organized with a proactive approach to logistics challenges

Physical & Other Requirements:

  • Ability to work flexible hours or shifts when needed (including evenings or weekends)
  • Capable of standing, walking, lifting, or moving inventory (if applicable to the role)
  • Forklift certification or knowledge of warehouse equipment operation is a plus
