Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a proactive and media-savvy Public Relations Specialist to develop and maintain a positive public image for our brand. This role involves writing press releases, coordinating media outreach, managing public communications, and supporting strategies that enhance brand credibility, trust, and visibility across all platforms.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Media Relations
    Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, influencers, bloggers, and media outlets.
    Pitch stories, coordinate interviews, and respond to media inquiries.

  • Press Materials
    Write compelling press releases, media kits, speeches, company statements, and feature articles.
    Ensure messaging is clear, consistent, and aligned with brand values.

  • Crisis Communication
    Assist in preparing communication plans and responses during crises or sensitive situations.
    Help protect and manage the organization’s reputation in high-pressure scenarios.

  • Publicity Campaigns
    Plan and execute PR campaigns to promote product launches, company news, events, and milestones.
    Collaborate with marketing and social media teams to align messaging.

  • Event Coordination
    Support PR efforts for events such as product launches, press conferences, speaking engagements, and sponsorships.

  • Media Monitoring & Reporting
    Monitor media coverage and public sentiment across channels.
    Prepare regular reports on campaign performance and media impact.

  • Content Collaboration
    Work with internal teams to develop PR-driven content, including blog posts, newsletters, social media, and video scripts.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field
  • 2–4+ years of experience in public relations, media, or corporate communications
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills
  • Proven experience in media outreach and press relations
  • Familiarity with media monitoring tools and PR software (e.g., Meltwater, Cision, Muck Rack)
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working with both traditional and digital media outlets
  • Knowledge of social media platforms and their role in PR strategy
  • Event planning or coordination experience
  • Crisis communication or reputation management training is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field
  • (Preferred) Additional certifications in PR, media relations, or crisis communications

Experience:

  • 2–4+ years of experience in public relations, media, corporate communications, or a similar role
  • Proven track record in media outreach, press releases, and managing public image
  • Experience working with journalists, influencers, and media outlets

Technical & Media Skills:

  • Proficiency with PR tools such as:
    • Cision, Meltwater, Muck Rack, PR Newswire or similar
    • Media monitoring and analytics platforms
  • Strong knowledge of press release distribution, media pitching, and follow-up
  • Familiarity with digital platforms and social media as part of integrated PR strategies
  • Basic understanding of SEO as it relates to press content is a plus

Communication & Writing Skills:

  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling abilities
  • Capable of crafting persuasive press materials, pitches, speeches, and talking points
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Confidence in public speaking or representing the brand in interviews or events

Strategic Thinking & Organization:

  • Strong ability to develop and execute PR strategies aligned with business goals
  • Experience managing timelines, media calendars, and PR campaigns
  • Able to handle fast-paced environments and meet tight deadlines

Interpersonal & Soft Skills:

  • High emotional intelligence and ability to build trust with internal and external stakeholders
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and resourceful
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Ability to manage confidential or sensitive information with discretion

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in crisis communication or reputation management
  • Background in event planning, brand communications, or influencer collaborations
  • Experience in specific industries such as tech, fashion, healthcare, nonprofit, or entertainment
  • Bilingual or multilingual communication skills (if applicable to market)
